Be Healthier In Your Bedroom
Dear Reader,
Your bedroom can be a total mess or neat as a pin, some turn this sleeping space into another dining room, or use it as added office space with laptop and papers within easy reach. Maybe it's the room in the house where everyone gathers to watch movies. However you use that space in your home, you probably didn't realize that your bedroom plays an important role in your health and wellbeing.
The good news is that there are some very easy things you can do in this space to help you life a longer, stronger, more contented life. And only one of them is sex.
1. Ease into your day as this is a research proven benefit to your body. The truth is you don't want to hit the ground running every day (though some days that's what's called for), as studies at Harvard University (as well as other institutions) find that the risk of a heart attack is highest during the first few hours of the day. This is likely because the cardiovascular system needs more blood (and oxygen) to get up to speed, at a time when blood vessels are most constricted, a natural occurrence after an extended rest. Best to start off your morning at a calm, relaxed, easy pace as this protects your heart and helps you feel less stressed too.
2. Stretch when you get up, because no matter how well you slept, you'll still have some tight muscles. After your shower stretch for a bit as the Mayo Clinic say a morning stretch is a natural instinct that can have some pretty impressive benefits to the body. A five minute routine that starts with the neck, moves to the arms and shoulders, lower back and finishes up in your calves improves the health of joints and helps with flexibility too. You'll feel surprisingly good and the warmed, stronger muscles will carry you through your day with ease.
3. Look at yourself naked in a full-length mirror. Sure it sounds strange because most of us (even fit people) avoid looking at ourselves naked, but because of this we can miss big changes, bumps or spots or even inflammation that can be an early sign of something serious. By looking at your naked self regularly, you'll get to know what's normal and be able to spot something that might warrant a trip to your doctor.
4. Have sex as a 10 year research project involving 1,000 middle aged men found that those who had weekly sex had half the death rate of men who had less frequent orgasms. During sex the body releases endorphins and stress hormones drop fast. Muscles get strong, deep breathing and circulation increase and chronic pain can be eased. Also, you get sleepy after orgasm and burn almost 200 calories each time. All good for you.

5. Escape for a moment of peace by taking time just before sleep, in the solitude of your own room to pray or meditate and think about your blessings in this life. This practice can improve not only your mental health, but your immune system. People who consciously pause to be thankful are less anxious, depressed, have fewer headaches, muscle pain and other stress like physical issues. The last thing you think about before sleep is important, so make it good.
6. Sleep naked, as the natural tendency of the body is to cool off when we sleep. Heavy pajamas or loads of blankets can disrupt this, which is why sleeping in the nude is a good option. Just be sure you have a lock on the bedroom door so you don't get any awkward surprises from children or roommates.
7. Get a good night's sleep as this brings down the levels of cortisol, the stress hormone that also is known to regulate the metabolism of water, minerals, fat, sugar and protein. Poor sleep can bring up your metabolism and this has you feeling hungry and deprived, prone to eating the worst kinds of foods. Plus, short or long-term sleep debt makes a dangerous impact on your mental processes and is nothing to brag about. Lost sleep can give you the same poor reactions as a drunk.
To your good health,
